Review :

All The Loving Couples (1969) starring Barbara Blake Was About The Sexual Revolution Of The 1960's and 1970's

All The Loving Couples (1969) was made outside of the Hollywood big studio system and is about part of the Sexual Revolution of the 1960's and 1970's, and was an Indy movie which VARIETY ranked as a "Top Box Office" earner in 1970, and was one of the few movies to deal with the Sexual Revolution of the 1965-75 decade (oddly very few books were written about it, either).

The movie was an independent film, not connected with major Hollywood movie studios, but was a big financial success anyway, due partly to its topic (very controversial and newsworthy in the late 1960's), and also due to the money producers invested in promoting the movie in various regions of the USA.

The movie was first released in big cities in late 1969, and attracted enormous interest, and did very well at the box office.

Major Hollywood traditional studios wouldn't touch the subject matter (also refused to make movies about the then controversial and still ongoing Vietnam War until the war was over in 1975), except for BOB AND CAROL AND TED AND ALICE (1970) which trivialized the Sexual Revolution of the 1960's and 1970's and was a comedy about wife swapping which failed....losers trying to get in on the "Sexual Revolution." ALL THE LOVING COUPLES was written by a man who actually was involved in the LA "swinging" or "wife swapping" scene of the late 1960's, which was extensive, but died out as a high profile activity (which might have continued, but publicity about it stopped) by the middle 1970's along with the rest of the Sexual Revolution and Counterculture Revolution of the 1960's and 1970's.

The Sexual Revolution which this movie portrays was really very big and widespread in the 1960's and 1970's but somehow was "disappeared" as not "socially correct," and evidences of it somehow also disappeared.

Starting in the early 1970's and cranking up into high gear by the middle 1970's, a major domestic war was conducted by enemies of the Countercultural and Sexual Revolutions with great success, and perpetrators of that war (conducted in the media and by other means) both vanquished the Countercultural and Sexual Revolutions of those times, and defamed them so that historians both widely reported those revolutions as "failures" (which they were emphatically not) and also ignored them as objectively reported subjects for histories of that period.

Political and government events and happenings of the 60's/ 70's are generally reported in histories of that period (the Vietnam War, Civil Rights protest activity, etc.), but the counterculture and sexual revolution occurrences of that time are ignored and have been widely disappeared.

You really had to have been there to know what happened. History books and other accounts just don't tell the story.

ALL THE LOVING COUPLES told part of the story.

The fact that this important and (at the time) highly profitable and widely seen movie is not available easily in current times (2009) reflects this.

ALL THE LOVING COUPLES was an important and big earning movie in its time, and oddly, it seems unavailable at all for collectors 40 years later.
